Prix libre et consommation socialement responsable: application du modèle "Fixez votre propre prix" à une ressourcerie

Lacour, Jean-Pierre (Université Grenoble Alpes) ; Lacour, Hugo

Abstract: This study relates the implementation of the Name Your Own Price (NYOP) mechanism in a repurposing shop. The principle is as follows: the buyer sets an initial offer which is accepted if it is above a threshold price set by the seller but unknown to buyers. This mechanism that gives customers pricing power allows a large number people to pay according to their means. The purpose of this study is to asset the way buyers set their price in a socially responsible consumption (SRC) situation. Our results show that the buyers respect the prices suggested by the seller. However, the SRC situation doesn’t lead buyers to set higher prices. They also tend to pay a lower proportion of their reference price for higher-valued items than for lower-valued ones
